Photographer's Description of the Image
This shot was taken off Mafia Island, Tanzania. Whale sharks tend to congregate there. The water is usually very green and murky. This day the water was much clearer than usual. The whale sharks that day were accompanied by golden pilot jacks. I liked the splash of yellow they added to the picture. The jacks can usually be found "surfing" the bow wave just in front of the whale shark. I caught this shot at the moment a whale shark had opened its mouth, which caused the startled jacks to get sucked into its mouth. They can be seen swimming out of this precarious situation.
