CORRUPT INSTALLATION MEDIA ERROR MESSAGE:

This problem can be avoided in most instances by following these "Drag Install" instructions:

Windows 95

  • Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  • Click on My Computer on your desktop or in your Start menu.
  • Locate and click on your C:\ drive. (Usually located at the top of the window on the left-hand side directly below the menu bar.)
  • Click on "File," select "New," and then select "Folder."
  • Type in the name for the folder as "ODSCD" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.
  • Click on the box that says "DRIVE C:\" and select your CD drive (usually D:\). Now the contents of the CD should appear on the right side of the window.
  • Select all of the CD's files and drag them to the opposite side to the new folder you created. This will copy the CD to your hard drive.
  • After the copy is complete, go to the new folder and click on it so that its contents will appear at the right. Now select the program CD you wish to use (e.g., EDHCD, MPCD, WLPCD, FLACD, etc.) by clicking on the program icon. (The icon will look like a yellow diamond with a movie projector inside it.)
  • Now click on "File" and select "Create Shortcut." Another icon will appear on the right; this is the shortcut.
  • Next click on Start with the right mouse button and select "Open" from the menu that appears. Drag the shortcut icon to the "Programs" file in the open window. The installation is now complete, and the shortcut will be located in the Start menu under "Programs."

Windows 2000/ME

  • Right-click on Start in the Windows taskbar and then left-click on "Explore."
  • Locate your C:\drive (hard drive/local disk) and double click on the hard drive icon.
  • Click on the "File" menu, select "New," and then select "Folder."
  • Type in the name for the folder as "ODSCD" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.
  • Click on the box that says "Local disk (C:)" and then click on your CD drive icon (usually D:\). The contents of the CD should appear on the right side of the window.
  • Select all of the CD's files and drag them to the opposite side to the new folder you named "ODSCD." This will copy the CD to your hard drive.
  • After the copy is complete, go to the new folder so that its contents appear at the right. Now select the program CD you wish to use (e.g., EDHCD, MPCD, WLPCD, FLACD, etc.) by clicking on the program icon. (The icon will usually have a picture representing the program).
  • Now click on "File" and "Create Shortcut." Another icon will appear on the right; this is the shortcut.
  • Next right-click on Start and choose "Explore." Drag the shortcut file to the "Programs" folder in the open window. The installation is now complete and the shortcut will be located in the Start Menu under "Programs."

Windows XP and VISTA

  • Insert your CD into the CD player and then close any open windows.
  • Right-click on Start in the Windows taskbar and then left-click on "Explore."
  • Locate your local disk C:\ drive icon (hard drive/local disk). Click on the hard drive icon.
  • Click on "File" and then select "New" and select "Folder."
  • Type in the name for the folder as "ODSCD" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.
  • Scroll down through the files on the left and click on your CD/DVD-ROM drive (usually D:\). The contents of the CD should appear on the right side of the window.
  • Select all of the CD's files and drag them to the opposite side to the new folder you created ("ODSCD"). This will copy the CD to your hard drive.
  • After the copy is complete, click once on the new folder so that its contents appear at the right. Now select the program CD you wish to use (e.g., EDHCD, MPCD, WLPCD, FLACD, etc.) by clicking on the program’s application icon. (The icon will usually have a picture representing the program).
  • Now click on "File" and "Create Shortcut." Another icon will appear on the right; this is the shortcut.
